Some shields I painted red. Cos I can. Then realised I should have painted red stripes on their head-dress. Too late, one of many mistakes I can't be a*sed to rectify. Not like I'm gonna enter them into any competitions or use them for display games

Work in progress New Kingdom Egyptians.
Feels like ages since I last posted an update, in fact it was 12/03/24....
Nearly at the end. All the figures are done, weapons and shields added, gloss varnish on the shields (figs already done) just waiting to do the matt varnish.
Made a right old pig's ear on this lot, learned some lessons and made some mistakes, some I've had to rectify.
A) drill any hands and then glue the weapons in BEFORE painting
B) leave the shields off until after painting
C) despite being predominantly white in colour, give me WW2 to paint any day 🤣
D) Contrast (aka speed paints) ain't always that.......

Chariots in progress. I've left the main exterior body depicted as rawhide. The platform was made of mesh straps (acted as suspension), various pale coloured woods were usedbin construction and the rims of the wheels were made of rawhide so unusual not to paint metalled rims. Gone with blue coloured rails, bow cases and quivers for unity.

Chariot horses waiting to be finished. Pharoe is going to have white armoured in bronze horses, the rest are going to be predominantly one shade in keeping with horses from that area, at that time - only a small step up from Onagers. Painted with contrast paints as an experiment, usually use proper paints with full pigment then washes and highlights for a denser colour. It's not bad and does speed up painting of horses, and you could always give more coats and highlights- but I wasn't expecting to take nearly four weeks to chuck these out.
